Space Koshien (originally 'CanSat Koshien', run since 2007) is a hands-on space education competition. In the CanSat Division, teams design the sensors, communications, power and structure of a 66 x 115 mm CanSat. They launch it by rocket or balloon, carry out a mission during descent and recover it. Judges assess performance, mission achievement and the presentation, including why the mission was chosen. Japan's top team competes at the CanSat competition held with the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF).
