Terms of use

The rules for using Choices, in plain words, for students and their parents.

Updated Oct 27, 2026

What Choices is

Choices is a free catalog of competitions, olympiads, research programs, internships, scholarships, grants, summer schools and other programs for high school students. Editors check each listing against the organizer’s official page, but every program is run by its organizer, not by Choices, and its deadlines, costs and rules can change. Always confirm them on the organizer’s own site before you apply.

Choices is not affiliated with the organizers it lists and does not speak for them.

Your account

You can browse every program without an account. An account is for one person: use your own name and a real email address, keep your details accurate and keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else has used your account, write to Choices.

If you are under 13, do not create an account. If the law where you live requires it, ask a parent or guardian for permission before you sign up. If Choices learns that an account belongs to someone under 13, it deletes the account.

How Choices handles your data

Using Choices fairly

Do not copy the catalog in bulk with scrapers, bots or other automated tools, do not overload the site, and do not try to get into accounts or parts of the site that are not yours.

When you suggest a program, send a real one with its official page. Do not send false information, advertising or spam. Editors may edit a suggestion, publish it or decline it.

What Choices cannot promise

Choices cannot promise that you will be accepted to a program or receive funding, or that every detail of a listing is correct and complete. Links lead to other websites, which Choices does not control; their own terms and privacy policies apply there.

Reminders

Reminders are a convenience. An email can arrive late, land in spam or not arrive at all, so keep track of your deadlines yourself as well.

Suspension and deleting your account

Choices may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or the site at risk. You can delete your account at any time from your profile; this permanently removes your profile, saved programs, notes, reminders and suggestions. If your account is suspended, or you are a parent or guardian, write to Choices and the account and its data will be deleted.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, this page shows the new version and the date it was updated. If you keep using Choices after that, the new terms apply.
