Bebras is an international challenge on informatics and computational thinking that started in Europe. Problems cover information representation, algorithmic thinking, using computer systems, discrete structures, logic puzzles, and ICT and society, with questions set by age group (Junior: junior high grade 3 and high school grade 1; Senior: high school grades 2-3). In Japan the aim is to spark interest in computer science, not to rank students. Junior high and high school students answer 15 questions in 40 minutes in a web browser, one PC per student. Students can view their own results, and participation certificates are available on request.
