A free, multi-year informatics research program run by Japan's National Institute of Informatics in which talented secondary students conduct real research with young university and industry researchers as mentors.

Supported by the JST STELLA (次世代科学技術チャレンジプログラム) scheme, the program connects students with world-class talent in mathematics, algorithms and programming to cutting-edge informatics research. Students carry out joint research with leading young researchers in Japan, visit university labs and present results; alumni have had papers accepted at international conferences and several have been IOI medalists. About 40 students are admitted per cohort.
