Concept-Based Mathematics Inquiry Contest 2026 (Math Inquiry Challenge)

Ministry of Education and KOSAC contest where students investigate this year's theme, 'Mathematics that keeps us secure' (math behind passwords and cryptography), and present it as a research poster.

Students choose their own question within the theme of passwords and cryptography (for example, how prime numbers protect digital security) and show their inquiry process, methods, results and discoveries on a poster; edtech and math tools may be used. Finalists present online and answer judges' questions. Judging weighs topic fit, inquiry process and creativity (preliminary, 60%) and expression and inquiry attitude (final, 40%). Up to 15 awards: a Minister of Education grand prize for each school level plus KOSAC Chair awards.
