Sponsored by the Robert A. Welch Foundation for more than 40 years, WSSP has given nearly 3,000 Texas high-school students hands-on research experience. Scholars live on campus for five weeks and receive one-on-one mentoring from faculty and graduate students at UT Austin, UT Arlington, UT Dallas, the University of Houston, Texas A&M or Texas Tech, with a guest-speaker series, facility tours and a presentation of their findings. Site assignments are made by staff; students are generally not placed at the site nearest home.
