UKROC is organised by ADS Group, the UK aerospace, defence, security and space trade body, which has run it since 2006. Teams design, build and launch a model rocket carrying two raw eggs, working without adult help on the build. Qualifying teams progress from regional events to the UK National Final, and the winning team flies the UK flag at the International Rocketry Challenge against teams from the United States, France, Japan and Ukraine, with accommodation and flights covered by UKROC.
