Started in 1988, Kosen Robocon challenges kosen students to "think with their own heads and build robots with their own hands" for a different task each year (2026 task: a rag-throwing contest, 高専杯 雑巾投擲選手権). Regional winners, judges' picks and one competition-committee pick advance to the national final. Awards include the Robocon Grand Prize, Idea, Technical and Design awards.
