Students join a lab project, keep a lab notebook, take biology and responsible-conduct-of-research courses, give a short talk, present a poster and write a 3–4-page paper. About 70 students are accepted from 800–1,000 applications. California high-school students can also be considered for the CIRM stem-cell track.
