Contribute to high-school research projects with Air Force Research Laboratory mentors. US citizenship is required. GPA 3.0 is encouraged, but a lower GPA does not automatically disqualify an applicant.
These paid research appointments involve full-time summer work, normally 40 hours weekly, for at least eight weeks. Projects vary by site and may include software, robotics, testing, modeling or other STEM fields. Exact dates depend on the host, funding and student availability. Applicants should select projects matching their educational level in the semester before the internship. Mentors assess coursework, experience, GPA, résumé and recommendations; an advertised project is not a guaranteed funded opening. Scholars may be required to write a technical report and present their work under mentor direction. Up to one unpaid week of leave may be allowed if the eight-week minimum is met.
