UC San Diego OPALS Summer Research — 2027

OPALS uses real scientific data in projects at the intersection of engineering, medicine and AI. Students work alongside researchers, graduate students and industry collaborators, evaluate experimental data and contribute to ongoing research. Project areas include cellular biology, neuroscience, biomedical AI/imaging, sustainability and systems design. Students present a research poster or presentation. The summer offering is explicitly in person at UC San Diego, weekdays 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
