Simons Summer Research Program 2027

Simons Fellows work inside a Stony Brook faculty research group in chemistry, computer science, geosciences, marine science, neurobiology and more than a dozen other departments. They learn laboratory techniques, take on a question of their own, attend weekly faculty research talks and workshops, write a research abstract and present a poster at the closing symposium. Prior research experience is not required. In 2026 the program received 1,864 applications and selected 60 Fellows; fewer than 5% of applicants are admitted.
