St John's College Oxford Classics and Ancient History Essay Competition 2027

Students answer one of four questions in literature, history, art and archaeology, or philosophy. In 2026 a £100 book token went to the best essay in each category, with a further £75 for the overall winner and £75 for the best entry from a pupil who had not previously studied a classical or ancient subject. All entrants receive a certificate and may apply to the subject exploration day.
