Annual national chemistry olympiad for JC1-level students, organised by SNIC, NUS Chemistry and MOE; it identifies students for training toward the International Chemistry Olympiad.
Held every year since 1989, SChO is now a theory-only competition using the International Chemistry Olympiad syllabus. Participants can win gold, silver and bronze medals and certificates; there are also a Best Student Award for the top overall score and a Best Team Award for the school whose best three participants score highest. Strong performers are invited to phased training for IChO selection.
