A national championship for high school calligraphy performance teams, with a video-and-photo preliminary in seven regional blocks and a live final in Shikokuchuo, Ehime, Japan's 'paper town'.
Held in Shikokuchuo, Ehime, to explore new forms of calligraphy and promote the local paper industry. Teams create calligraphy works in a live performance, which may use music. The preliminary is judged from performance videos and work photos in seven blocks; in 2026, 20 schools qualified plus 2 'challenge' slots, for 22 finalists (109 schools from 33 prefectures applied). Awards include the winner's giant mizuhiki brush flag, trophy and medals, plus runner-up, third-place and special prizes.
