Take a free four-week materials-science course with Penn lectures, lab techniques, workshops, projects and field trips.
Penn’s NSF-supported Materials Research Science and Engineering Center offers 14 places on a four-week intensive materials-science course. Students attend approximately 10:00–15:30 Monday–Thursday, learning through faculty/researcher lectures, workshops, report-writing seminars, projects, hands-on activities and field trips. Exposure includes electron/optical microscopy, thermal analysis, mechanical testing and X-ray diffraction. Reports, projects and assignments also require work outside class.
