The National Tax Agency's nationwide Japanese essay contest for junior high students on any tax-related theme, with awards up to the Prime Minister's Prize. The 2027 (Reiwa 9) call has not been published yet.
Essays of up to 1,200 characters (including title) on anything related to tax: what you heard at home, thoughts on filing and paying taxes, or what you learned at school. Top essays receive the Prime Minister's Prize and ministers' prizes (Internal Affairs, Finance, Education) with certificates and gifts. In 2025, 426,594 essays came from 6,339 schools.
