A free national contest, run since 2021 by the education company CURIO SCHOOL, where junior high and high school students submit the inquiry (tankyu) projects they did at school in either a 'things I love' or a 'problems around me' theme, with finalists presenting in Yokohama.
Projects can be research results, products, business plans or ideas drawn from everyday life; school inquiry work can be submitted as is, and entries to other contests are also accepted. There are two themes in each division: 'Suki' (pursuing your own curiosity) and 'Komarigoto' (tackling problems faced by you or others). Prizes include Grand Prix and runner-up in each theme and division, plus sponsor awards from Meidensha (MEIDEN Award) and Fujitsu Client Computing (FMV Next Creator Award). All entrants receive an entry certificate usable for university admissions portfolios, and a feedback session with inquiry experts is held after judging. The contest has received about 14,000 entries since 2021.
