The Korean Chemical Society's chemistry olympiad for first- and second-year high school students: an entrance exam selects students for the summer and winter schools that train and select the Korean team for the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO).
KChO is run as a selection-and-training pathway: students sit an entrance exam twice a year, and those selected attend a two-week seasonal school (summer or winter) where IChO representatives are trained and chosen. Free self-study online materials are available to anyone and also define the exam scope. Former seasonal-school students no longer get automatic entry and must apply and sit the exam again. The two-hour exam is held at Konkuk University in Seoul; an engineering calculator is allowed.
