The Korean Astronomical Society's astronomy olympiad programme, which trains middle and high school students through online lectures, assignments and camps and selects Korea's team for the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA).
Middle school 1st and 2nd graders join as preparatory trainees (video lectures, a summer camp, online classes, assignments and a winter camp). Middle school 3rd graders and high school 1st and 2nd graders join as regular trainees in three groups (middle school, science and gifted high schools, other high schools) and move through selection exams, camps and a winter school toward the national team. Applicants can list a supervising teacher, who can then access the KAO teaching materials.
