NLSIU National Essay Competition on Consumer Law and Policy 2027 (5th edition, National Consumer Day)

An annual national essay competition by the Chair on Consumer Law and Practice at NLSIU Bengaluru (set up by the Department of Consumer Affairs), open to school students as well as university students and professionals, with cash prizes up to Rs 10,000.

Essays of 3,000-3,500 words (plus a 250-word abstract) on a consumer-protection issue such as AI and algorithmic decisions, dark patterns, digital payment fraud or children as young consumers, with Bluebook footnotes. Prizes in 2026: Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 with certificates of merit; the best entries may be published in the Chair's newsletter. The Chair also ran an AI video competition in 2025 and a national online poster-making competition in 2026 for National Consumer Day.
