Teens aged 13-19 are recruited each fall to fact-check viral social media claims and produce short explainer videos for MediaSmarts, with an honorarium per video.

Teens complete two evenings of free digital media literacy training, then pitch a claim, write a fact-checking script and produce a video. MediaSmarts publishes the videos on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. The program is entirely online and part of an international network started by MediaWise.
