Part of the lottery-fund Kkumsadari programme, the SOS scholarship (1,500 students in 2026) helps students keep studying when an emergency defined by the Emergency Welfare Support Act occurs: death, disappearance or imprisonment of the main earner, serious illness or injury, neglect or abuse, domestic violence, fire or disaster, business closure or job loss. The crisis must still be ongoing on the application date.
