Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) Northern Ireland 2026/27
A means-tested £30 a week Education Maintenance Allowance for 16 to 19 year olds in Northern Ireland studying an eligible course, plus two possible £100 bonus payments. 2026 to 2027 forms are now available.

EMA is a payment of £30 a week, paid fortnightly into a bank account, to students who meet the household income rules and study an eligible course while attending all classes. Two bonus payments of £100 may be paid in January and June for achieving goals set in the Learning Agreement.
