A two-stage national mathematics talent contest run from Chennai by the Association of Mathematics Teachers of India, with separate contests for Classes 9-10 (Bhaskara) and 11-12 (Ramanujan); about 10% of screening-level candidates reach the final.

AMTI, founded in 1965, conducts the National Mathematics Talent Contests to spot and foster mathematical talent. The 57th NMTC (2025) had 82,891 students at the screening level. Levels: Gauss (V-VI), Kaprekar (VII-VIII), Bhaskara (IX-X), Ramanujan (XI-XII) and Aryabhata (degree classes). The test is in English; merit certificates and prizes go to deserving finalists.
