The junior division of the Japan Mathematical Olympiad for junior high school students and younger, with a route to the IMO selection camp. The 2026 entry has closed; the foundation plans to post the 26th JJMO guidelines in early May 2027.
The JJMO aims to discover and nurture young mathematical talent and serves as a stepping stone to the JMO. The preliminary is a 3-hour, 12-question short-answer test taken online from home, covering number problems, geometry, games and combinatorics at junior high level. Qualifiers sit a 4-hour, 5-problem proof-based final. About the top 10 receive awards, and the top 5 JJMO prize winners are invited to the IMO selection camp alongside JMO winners.
