STARS pairs students with a faculty host in a UT Southwestern biomedical research laboratory in Dallas. Participants are paid a stipend, present their results at the end of the summer, and return to their high schools as emissaries who present their research. There are no clinical or shadowing activities. Participation is limited by funding.
