Summer school · In person
A five-day residential spring seminar on Ikei Island, Okinawa, for about 25 junior high and high school students with a strong interest in the mathematical sciences. Researchers give high-level lectures and students join evening seminars. The 2027 edition has not been announced yet.
Run by the alumni NPO behind the Suri no Tsubasa Summer Seminar, the Ikei Island Seminar invites leading researchers (in 2026 from Nagoya University, ZEN University, JAXA ISAS, OIST and RIKEN) to give lectures without holding back for younger students. Participants also join evening seminars and hands-on team projects. It is supported by MEXT and the Okinawa Prefectural Board of Education.
