Sixth form geography students answer a topical question on migration in an essay of up to 1,000 words (or an ArcGIS StoryMap), judged by the Royal Geographical Society and the Financial Times. A teacher submits the entries online.
The 2026 question is: what factors drive migration, how are patterns shifting and what are the consequences, including changes from climatic factors and post-2020 geopolitics. The winner receives a £50 Amazon voucher and their essay is published on the Society website, and may appear on FT.com and in Routes journal. Highly commended entrants may also be published.
