Kyoto University's free hands-on academic course for motivated high school students, with a selective in-person seminar track and an online lecture track covering sciences and, increasingly, humanities.
ELCAS (高校生のための体験型科学講座) is run by Kyoto University as part of its high school-university collaboration, based on the university's philosophy of self-directed learning through dialogue. Students work with faculty in short intensive courses; the seminar track involves lab-based practice and the lecture track is delivered online across about 10 themes. Fields now extend beyond the sciences into the humanities.
