Korea's team for the International Economics Olympiad is selected through the Hankyung TESAT economics exam: the five top-scoring high school test-takers represent Korea at the IEO.
The IEO tests economics, financial literacy and a team business case (a 24-hour case-solving task presented to judges). Since 2025 the Korea Economic Daily (Hankyung) has selected Korea's representatives through TESAT, a nationally accredited economics comprehension exam covering economic theory, current economics/business and applied problem-solving. Two university-student team leaders coach the team.
