Overview

FLEX Global is a competitive, merit-based exchange scholarship of the US Department of State, implemented by American Councils with partner organizations. It builds on FLEX and YES and funds an academic year living with a screened US host family, attending high school and joining community and leadership activities. Enhancement activities focus on business, technology and entrepreneurship. Students share their own culture and return to their home country after the exchange. Neither students nor parents choose the US state, city, school or host family. Placements span US communities, often suburban or rural; the city is assigned later. This entry covers Kazakhstan recruitment for the current 2027–28 cycle, not a paid exchange or a historical FLEX intake.
