Co-organized by the Aerospace Industries Association and the National Association of Rocketry, the American Rocketry Challenge has engaged over 110,000 middle and high school students. The 2027 rocket must carry two raw hen eggs to 800 feet, stay airborne 37–40 seconds and return both eggs unbroken by parachute, within weight, length and body-tube limits. In 2026, 1,107 teams from 44 states and DC entered. The national champion represents the United States at the International Rocketry Challenge.
