Uzbekistan's 69 academic lyceums attached to universities admit 9th-grade graduates into a two-year programme (equivalent to grades 10-11) through a national entrance test; in 2026 there were 14,898 places.
Academic lyceums attached to higher education institutions give two years of in-depth study in tracks such as exact sciences (mathematics, physics or a foreign language), natural sciences and social sciences. For 2026-27 the Ministry approved 14,898 places in 69 academic lyceums (12,116 in Uzbek, 2,340 in Russian and 442 in Karakalpak). In 2026, more than 57,000 of 66,033 registered applicants sat the tests on 24-25 July. Under resolution PP-4910, olympiad winners and holders of recognised language and subject certificates receive maximum scores in the relevant subject.
