Under the Government of India's SHRESHTA scheme, about 3,000 meritorious Scheduled Caste students a year win seats in the best private residential schools for Class 9 or Class 11 through the National Entrance Test (NETS) conducted by NTA. The 2027 call has not been announced.
SHRESHTA (Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas) is a scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment that provides seats for meritorious SC boys and girls in the best private residential schools in the country. About 3,000 students are selected every year for admission to Class 9 and Class 11 on the basis of NETS, a 3-hour paper based on the NCERT syllabus of Class 8 (for Class 9) or Class 10 (for Class 11). The bulletin does not detail the cost cover of the scheme.
