A free four-day residential particle physics camp at KEK in Tsukuba where high school students do hands-on research with scientists from the Belle II experiment. The 2027 edition has not been announced yet.
Held every year since FY2006 and co-hosted by KEK and Nara Women's University, Belle Plus lets students experience research from the Belle and Belle II experiments (whose work contributed to the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physics for Kobayashi and Maskawa). After lectures by active researchers and tours of the SuperKEKB accelerator and Belle II detector, students work in groups such as particle searches in real Belle data (B-Lab), cosmic-ray muon speed measurement, a home-built wire chamber, or theory, and present their results on the last day. No prior knowledge is needed.
