India's long-running student science research competition (since 2006): students submit research projects online, the shortlisted present at the IRIS National Fair, and top performers represent India at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the United States.
There are 21-22 categories from animal sciences and biochemistry to physics, mathematics, robotics, embedded systems and translational medicine. Textbook experiment replication, essays or survey reports without experimentation and display-only models are not accepted. IRIS is an ISEF-affiliated fair recognised by Society for Science and a mentoring programme prepares Team India for ISEF; special awards are listed on the page.
