The Children's Science Congress is a nationwide science communication programme begun in 1993 by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, with HIMCOSTE running the state level in Himachal Pradesh. Children carry out a group project on a local problem linked to a focal theme, using simple methods of science, and present a scientific project report. Besides the report the Himachal congress includes a science quiz, a mathematical olympiad, a science activity corner, science models and a science skit; state winners go on to the National Children's Science Congress.
