HEC gives undergraduate scholarships to students with a Gilgit-Baltistan domicile who have completed HSSC, to study at public sector universities across Pakistan. HEC says it aims to sustain and expand the programme.
The Undergraduate Scholarship Program for students of Gilgit-Baltistan in top Pakistani universities and institutions started in 2021. Selection uses SSC 10%, HSSC 40% and the HEC Scholarship Aptitude Test 50%, and applicants must score at least 50% in the test, which is valid for one year. Selected students secure admission on their own to public sector universities or degree awarding institutions anywhere in Pakistan. The HEC reports that the package covers tuition fee, hostel charges, stipend or living allowance, and book and travelling allowance.
