HEC offers 50 BS scholarships per batch to students from Gwadar, Lasbela/Hub, Kech (Turbat) and Awaran who finished SSC and HSSC in those districts with at least 50%.
The programme was started on the direction of the Government of Pakistan to uplift less developed areas and forms part of the Accelerated Development of Backward Areas of Balochistan. Each batch has 50 scholarships (Gwadar 20, Lasbela/Hub 10, Kech 10, Awaran 10), 200 in total. Awards are on merit and district quota; the aptitude test run by the Education Testing Council carries 50% weight, HSSC 40% and SSC 10%. Selected students must secure admission themselves to a BS (4-5 years) programme at an HEC-recognised public or private university.
