Japan's national high school photography championship: school teams of three submit a 6-8 photo series, and 18 schools are selected for a week-long shooting final in Higashikawa, Hokkaido.

Held since 1994, Photo Koshien aims to give high school photography clubs a national goal. Entries (a series of 6-8 prints on any theme) are judged first; 80 schools advance to online block reviews where teams present their intent, and 18 schools go to the final, where all teams shoot under the same conditions around Higashikawa, Biei, Kamifurano, Higashikagura, Asahikawa and Daisetsuzan National Park. Prizes include the Hokkaido Governor's Award for the winner. Sponsors offered free inkjet paper and tripod loans to entrant schools in 2026.
