A free program at the University of Tokyo's Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) that supports about 10 secondary students or teams with their own research themes, pairing them with graduate-student supporters and, where appropriate, RCAST faculty and labs.
Run by RCAST's Advanced Education Outreach lab (AEO), the High School Researcher program lets students deepen their own research with support from UTokyo graduate and undergraduate 'student affiliates', discussion meetings with peers, and, where fields match, guidance by RCAST faculty and lab experiments. An art track welcomes research on the social significance of music, design or calligraphy with professional artist advisers. Travel and accommodation for research visits may be funded case by case.
