A state scholarship examination run by the Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS), an autonomous institute under the Government of West Bengal, for Class XI science students in West Bengal. Selected scholars receive Rs 1,250 a month for two years plus an annual book grant; the Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti is the girls-only award.
Since 2015 JBNSTS has run a Junior Talent Search Test for Class XI science students of West Bengal. The test is a 3-hour MCQ paper of 90 marks (Physical Science, Life Science and Mathematics, 15 questions each; 2 marks per question, 0.5 negative marking), followed by an interview. Junior scholars get Rs 1,250 per month for two years until Class 12 and a Rs 2,500 annual book grant, a scholarship certificate, and exposure to seminars, workshops and science camps; the top 10 boys and top 10 girls are awarded laptops. A 'Best School Award' goes to the school with the most selected scholars.
