A free Chiba University program that teaches high school students research fundamentals, data science and design thinking, selecting about 40 for its Advanced Basic Course and about 10 for a full research course.
ASCENT-6E is Chiba University's JST STELLA program aiming to develop researchers who can create future value. The Advanced Basic Course (40 students) includes compulsory lectures such as philosophy of science and research ethics, two of eight science experiment courses, and one elective (logical analysis, Python programming and machine learning, debate/model UN, or social design). About 10 students are then selected for the Advanced Science Research Course to do full research with faculty support.
