A national programme run by Japan's Children and Families Agency in which children and young people register as 'Plus Members' and give their views on government policies through in-person and online sessions, web surveys and chats.
Iken Plus is the government's main channel for hearing children's and young people's opinions. Registered members receive easy-to-read briefings, then share views at facilitated sessions held in person, online, by web survey or chat. Their opinions are read by officials, used as material for government councils, and members receive feedback on how their views were or were not reflected. Members can also propose themes and help plan and run sessions; a youth team ('Ponpa') co-runs the programme with agency staff.
