A seven-week paid summer placement in a skilled trade for Grade 10 and 11 students in Newfoundland and Labrador, counted as apprenticeship hours.

YASP pairs students with employers in trades such as construction electrician, automotive service technician, plumber, welder, cook and heavy equipment technician. Employers receive a 75% wage subsidy, and hours worked count as official apprenticeship hours. The program is funded by the Canada-NL Workforce Development Agreement and run by Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador for the provincial department. In 2026, 85 youth apprentices took part.
