Written test and interview based scholarship of Rs 50,000 (Classes 9-10) or Rs 75,000 (Classes 11-12) for 46 students a year from government state-board schools in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand. The next call has not been announced.
Amar Ujala Foundation started the scholarship in June 2014 for students from poor socio-economic backgrounds who want to continue their studies. After a written examination and interviews, 23 students from Classes 9-10 and 23 students from Classes 11-12, including 2 visually impaired students, are selected each year: Rs 50,000 for Classes 9-10 and Rs 75,000 for Classes 11-12. Winners and their guardians are invited to Delhi for a two-day felicitation programme.
