Vidyasagar Science Olympiad 2027 (West Bengal state science olympiad for Class IX, JBNSTS)

A three-layer state science olympiad for Class IX students of West Bengal Board schools, organised by JBNSTS for the School Education Department, Government of West Bengal. The top 100 students receive a scholarship of Rs 1,000 a month and a book grant for two years.

The olympiad is an initiative of the School Education Department (Secondary Branch), Government of West Bengal, run by JBNSTS. Layer I is an intra-unit competition (top three students get a Rs 1,000 book grant), Layer II an intra-district competition for the top ten per cent from each district (top twenty per cent of those get a Rs 2,000 book grant), and Layer III a state-level contest. The top 100 students in West Bengal become Vidyasagar State Science Olympiad scholars with Rs 1,000 per month and a Rs 2,500 annual book grant for two years, plus mentoring workshops to prepare for national examinations. Questions cover Physical Science, Life Science and Mathematics from the state board syllabus.
