Manga Koshien (National High School Manga Championship) - 36th edition, 2027

Started in Kochi in 1992, Manga Koshien decides the top high school manga team. In the preliminary round each team creates one B4 manga on one of two announced themes (any colour, paneling or tools, including digital). At the final, 33 schools (30 domestic, 3 overseas in 2026) draw a B2 manga on a theme revealed on the day within 5.5 hours. Prizes in 2026 included 300,000 yen for first place, 200,000 yen for second and 100,000 yen for third, and publishers' editors scout participants for a professional manga development programme.
