The COMC is open to students of all grades. The top roughly 100–120 students in the Competitive Division are invited to the Canadian Mathematical Olympiad or the Canadian Junior Mathematical Olympiad, and top female contestants are considered for EGMO. The repêchage round has been discontinued.
